Case Study1 - Rwd Magazine Contents Page

The contents page for Rewind magazine is quite plain and unusually structured. It has four pictures of different artists, two of them are groups and the other two are solo artists, this shows the contrast that Rewind provides for its audience. The layout of the magazine is very unique, the masthead is below the pictures and is bold so that it can stand out and indicate that it is the contents page; it is followed by the date line that is usually seen on the front cover of magazines but once again this trend is seen in all Rewind magazines.
There are two sections of this edition; the subheadings are Regulars and features. Both of them are in black boxes that go across the page but stay within the margin lines. This is to add a bit of decoration to the page. The text that describes what is in each section is written in a paragraph, the page numbers, which are in bold, are used to separate the pages.
The two groups are facing towards the audience. The image of JLS shows them with direct eye contact with the reader where as the second group, N-Dubz is positioned opposite JLS in the structure of the pictures. This image doesn’t show all members of the group to have a direct ode of address, Dappy has sunglasses on this this cab be used to deceive the audience because we cant see his eyes. Fazer has on a cap, which is causing there to be a shadow over his eyes this can also mislead the reader.
The costumes of all the artist help to show the variety that the magazine had to offer the reader it suggests that it caters for people who are interested in different genres and different artists.
